November 10th 1pm - 5pm: Colgate Workshop

The workshop will took place in the field house for student of the capoeira club at Colgate College..

Sunday November 4th 3pm- Batucada Workshop

This will be our second batucada workshop. It will be held at the academy. Check back as these workshops will occur more frequently in the coming months.

Thursday November 1st - Sunday November 4th: Capoeira Mandinga of Detroit Batizado

The Capoeira Mandinga Schools in Detroit will be holding their 4th annual batizado. The cost of the event is $25 for a single day of workshops or $55 ($65 for non members) for all three days including the Batizado and shirt. All workshops and Batizado will be held at the Royal Oak YMCA. The event schedule is as follows:

Mestre Ombrinho of Capoeira Angola Quintal will be in Ithaca, NY and teaching workshops. Contact CM Carcará if for more details.

Friday October 12 7pm: Demonstration for La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity Inc.

We will be putting on a 20minute performance for La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity Inc. The demo will be at: The Diplomat Banquet Center & Hotel, 11956 Lyell Ave, Rochester, NY 14606. We will meet at the Academy and leave no later than 6:00pm.

Saturday October 6th 1-1:20pm : RIT Demo

We performed a demostration at RIT in the SAU cafeteria as part of the Foreign Language Fair.

Friday September 28 - Sunday September 30th: Capoeira Malês Batizado

Our friends in Toronto will be holding their annual batizado. The events are as follows:
Friday September 28th 7-10pm: Workshop
Saturday September 29th 12-2pm: Workshop
3-6pm: Batizado
Sunday September 30th 12-2pm: Workshop

Friday and Sunday the workshops will be held at: 1078 Dovercourt Rd., Toronto, Ontario
Saturday the workshop and Batizado will be held at: 805 Dovercourt House, Toronto, Ontario

Sunday September 23 4-4:30pm and 6:30-7pm: First Darien Lake Performance

This will be the first set of performances at the Darien Lake Theme Park for Starstruck Productions. Each day will include two half hour performances. Those planning to participate please sign up ASAP so that Contra Mestre Carcará can give them an official number. The sign up sheet is located at the academy or you can email Voz da noite. Remember if you sign up for the day, plan on being there the entire day. For more information on the park or directions you can visit the Darien Lake website.

Sunday September 9th 3-4:30: Batucada Class

We will be offering a Batucada Class the second Sunday of September. The cost of the class is $12 and will be located at the Capoeira Mandiga Rochester academy.

Saturday September 8th 12pm: Capoeira Demonstration at Everson Museum

Demonstration at the Everson Museum in Syracuse, September 8th at noon, organized by Angolinha. This event is in conjunction with the Everson's ongoing Yoruba exhibit.

Saturday Sept 1st 12pm: Low Country Capoeira Angola Society Family Reunion Roda

Each year the Low Country Capoeira Angola Society holds a roda. This year it is located at 5300 Overbrook Ave in Philadelphia, PA.

Youth Art Gallery Opening (August 25th 2007)

We recently performed a demonstration for the opening of the Youth Renaissance Art Gallery. It was another great opportunity we have had to be involved with the Rochester Community. Special thanks to Toreiro for setting up the performance.

Boulder Festival 2007 (July 27th, 28th & 29th)

Capoeira Mandinga Rochester recently had the opportunity to participate in the second annual Boulder Festival. The festival featured over 20 musicians and many booths with local artists. With our booth and performances, we generated many discussions about capoeira in the community. Thanks to everyone who helped out with this event, and hope to see more of you next year!

3rd Annual Batizado (May 19th 2007)

Although smaller than previous years, this year's batizado was another great success. We are greatly appreciative of the attendance from our invited guests. It was a rare gift to train that closely with the mestres. Thanks to everyone that took part in the event, it has given our group some great first memories in our new academy. Special thanks to everyone that helped this event to run smoothly and to all those that put countless hours in doing renovations to the new academy to get it ready for the event.

Cordão de Ouro Batizado - Champaign,IL

Presented by Contra-Mestre Denis and Mestre Suassuna in association with the Capoeira Club at UIUC. They are very excited to confirm the presence of Mestre Suassuna in our event as well as the great masters and professores that will attend our event.

Mandinga Rochester Open Roda

February 24th, 2007

Mandinga Rochester will be holding a open roda on the last saturday of February (24th). The roda is free of charge and open to all that can attend. The roda will begin promptly at 2pm. We hope to see you there!

Eat Sleep Capoeira 2007

Friday, January 12th through Sunday January 14th

The first event of the new year will once again bring together capoeiristas from our neighbor groups in Western New York as well as NYC, Canada, and Michigan.

Join us for a series of workshops, rodas, and non-stop training as we eat a little, sleep a little, and play a lot capoeira. Of note, cords are to be left at the door as we will come together as capoeiristas to train and celebrate together, without rank or title.
