Mestre Ombrinho Workshops

Friday, October 27th (7pm to 10pm) and
Saturday, October 28th (12pm to 4pm)

Mestre Ombrinho of Capoeira Angola Quintal  joined us for a series of workshops at Renesainnce Martial Arts Studio (Located at 34 Elton St.)  Topics included the various games native to Capoeira Angola as well as new music and excercises from Mestre Ombrinho.

Mandinga Detroit Batizado

37th Annual PuertoRican Festival/Demonstrations

Saturday and Sunday August 12th and 13th-- Civic Center Plaza-- Rochester, NY

This was our second visit to the annual celebration of Rochester and Western New York's Puerto Rican community.

Bradford Demonstration/Workshops

Saturday July 22nd in Bradford, Pennsylvania

This was an all day event held by the LIMIAR organization

LIMIAR is a child advocacy organization. It advocates and assists Brazilian children who need families, and unadoptable children with their various needs.  This was our second opportunity to share in a celbration of Brazilian culture with these immigrants from Brazil.

Capoeira Mandinga Oakland Batizado

May 24th to 29th: Mestre Marcelo's Batizado and Capoeira Encounter Memorial Day weekend.

May 25 - 29: The annual Capoeira Mandinga batizado event held on Memorial Day weekend this year. Rodas and workshops with visiting mestres, a batizado and troca de cordoes, a barbeque ,and time to be with friends and fellow capoeiristas. Invited Guests include Mestre Lobão, Mestre Efraim, Mestre Batata, Mestre Mariano, Mestre Deputado and more.

University of Rochester Final Exam: Roda

May 13th: At 8:30am on May 13th, Instrutor Carcará and the students of the U of R will be hosting an open roda.  This open roda is also the final exam for the acredited Capoeira class currently held at the university.  All local and near-by Capoeiristas are welcome to join us as we celebrate the students acheivements.  Please contact Carcará for directions or with any questions you may have.  This is a free event!

Colgate University Workshop

May 6th: Colgate University will be hosting workshops with Instrutor Carcará.  More information will be posted as it becomes available.

University of Rochester: Class Showing

May 4th: Thursday, May 4th, the students of the U of R Capoeira class will be performing at their class showing.  The event runs from 3:30pm to 6pm at Spurrier Gym.  Please contact Carcará for directions or with any questions you may have.  Students from the group are encouraged to come and support their fellow Capoeiristas.

Mandinga Rochester Fundamentals Workshop

April 22nd and 23rd: Capoeira Mandinga Rochester will be holding workshops on Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd of April.  These workshops will revolve around the fundamental movements and concepts of Miudinho and Capoeira Maneira.  Saturday's workshop will begin at 5pm and Sunday's workshop will begin at 2pm.  Price for each day is $10.

Tuesday April 11th to Sunday April 16th: Mestre Efraim will be holding his Annual Batizado e Troca de Cordoes.

March 12th: Instrutor Graveto and his students will be hosting a workshop and roda at the Varna Community Center; located at 943 Dryden Road in Ithaca, NY 14850.  The scheduled time for this event is 3:30pm to 6:30pm.

February 20th:  We will be holding a series of demonstrations from 8:15am to 12:15.

Burning Barn Theatre's Bare Bones Festival

February 9th, 12th, 16th, 18 and 19th:  The Bare Bones Festival is a collection of one-act plays, monologues, and short performance pieces will be presented to the public.  All shows will be presented at New Life Presbyterian Church, which is located at 243 Rosedale.  All shows start at 8pm; except Sundays will start at 2pm.  Tickets cost $8 for one show or two for $12.
