What is Capoeira?

A Brazilian art form and self-defense with strong aerobic and dance elements. It is a harmony of forces that gives you power, flexibility, endurance and self-discovery. Capoeira balances the body, soul and mind. It is a graceful and exciting art form that teaches you to be alert. The only indigenous martial art of the Americas, Capoeira was developed by African slaves in Brazil. This art keeps its strong traditions and enables you to break through limits, revitalizing you for everyday life.

Capoeira builds your self-confidence and the challenge is within anyones reach regardless of age, sex or athletic experience.

Everyone is always welcome to visit or classes to observe and/or talk with our students. Feel free to participate at anytime. Just bring any kind of loose fitting pants and a t-shirt.

Welcome to Capoeira Mandinga

Capoeira Mandinga located in Rochester, New York is under the instruction of Contra Mestre Carcará and supervised by Mestre Marcelo Caveirinha. Classes are currently held at our new location, Academia com Expressão, at 46 Sager Dr in Rochester, NY. During the school year we also have classes at the The University of Rochester.

Announcements

Schedule Change: A new schedule will be going into effect on October 1st. The change will cause the switch of the the times for the Music class and the Capoeira, Beginner class. Check the Classes page for the new updated times.

New Billing Partner: We are please to announce that we have partnered with Member Solutions to manage and collect our classes dues/billing effective 10/01/07.

Our friends from Capoeira Angola Quintal in Ithaca are having their batizado this weekend. If you plan on attending this event as a student of Capoeira Mandinga of Rochester, please let CM Carcara know. Also give Graveto or Giratorio an e-mail if you need housing so that you will be accounted for.

April 19th 2:00pm:Earth Day
